Just before wrapping up construction for the season, Kanerahtiio carved the face of a bear on the main pole over the western door. Next year he will carve a wolf for the eastern door, and mound the dirt around the foundation to form a turtle's back . These are the three clans of the Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) People.
The photos below are living memories of the process of raising the bones of the vision this past summer. Next year we will cover it with a wood & bark skin to make a place where we can continue to gather, sing and heal together.
